Canada has long been admired for its ability to foster inclusivity, cooperation, and pragmatic policymaking. However, in recent years, divisive politics have taken root, threatening the very fabric of our democracy. While all major parties engage in political strategy, the Conservative Party of Canada has increasingly employed tactics that deepen national divides, pitting regions, demographics, and ideologies against each other. As Centrists, we believe that these approaches harm the country’s unity and progress.

Peterborough is a riding that beautifully blends urban vibrancy with rural charm. While much attention is often focused on the city of Peterborough, it is essential to recognize and address the unique challenges faced by the rural communities in this riding. From Douro-Dummer and Selwyn to Havelock-Belmont-Methuen and Asphodel-Norwood, rural residents play a vital role in the region’s identity and economy. However, these areas face distinct issues that require a balanced, inclusive approach to ensure their voices are heard and their needs met.

While still an amazing destination, Downtown Peterborough is at a crossroads, facing issues that require pragmatic, balanced solutions. Challenges such as affordable housing, public safety, support for small businesses, and infrastructure renewal are pressing concerns that impact residents, workers, and visitors alike. While the current Conservative MP and a potential Liberal candidate may offer partisan approaches, a Centrist candidate is uniquely positioned to provide evidence-based, community-first solutions.

2024 was a year of growth, engagement, and laying the groundwork for balanced leadership in Peterborough. We’re excited to build on this momentum in 2025 by focusing on unity, progress, and practical solutions for our community.
